The position available at the PROV-WARWICK, RI Michaels store is a Part-Time role focused on Event Coordination and Customer Experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing events, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes, ensuring a fun, engaging, and memorable experience for guests of all ages. This role demands a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who can manage multiple events simultaneously while providing friendly, knowledgeable customer service on the retail floor.

Key aspects of the role include fostering a welcoming environment, demonstrating craft projects, facilitating party activities such as face painting and party add-ons like goody bags and balloons, and managing communication with clients and store teams. Administrative tasks such as handling emails, phone calls, and paperwork are part of the day-to-day responsibilities, as well as responding to client feedback with flexibility to adjust event planning. Maintaining cleanliness, safety, and operational standards before and after events is vital to uphold the company’s brand promises.

In addition to event coordination, this role supports the customer experience by assisting shoppers in finding products, providing solutions, and ensuring a fast and friendly checkout process. Promoting company programs such as the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, educating customers about feedback surveys, and participating in omni-channel fulfillment initiatives like Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS) are essential components. The role also involves operational duties including truck unloading, stocking, planogram execution, merchandise recovery, store optimization, shrink prevention, and safety compliance.

This position offers a Total Base Pay Range of $16.00 to $18.80 per hour, reflecting Michaels’ commitment to competitive compensation. Candidates should be prepared for a retail environment that requires physical activity such as standing for extended periods, lifting, bending, and occasional outdoor tasks. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in retail or customer service

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events including children’s birthday parties and craft classes
  • engage clients of all ages by creating a fun and creative environment
  • demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects and perform related activities such as face painting
  • facilitate and implement party add-ons like goody bags and balloons according to company standards
  • communicate events with clients and store team members
  • complete administrative tasks including answering emails, making phone calls, and paperwork
  • adjust plans based on client feedback and needs
  • create and execute backup or emergency plans as necessary
  • ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
  • uphold cleanliness and safety standards by setting up, breaking down, and cleaning before and after events
  • help customers shop and locate products
  • provide fast and friendly checkout experiences
  • engage customers on Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments
  • educate customers on Voice of Customer survey
  • assist with omni-channel processes such as BOPIS and SFS
  • participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes
  • complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • perform Store in Stock Optimization and AD set duties
  • support shrink and safety programs
  • adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company policies
  • interact respectfully and positively with customers and team members
  • cross-train in Custom Framing selling and production
  • participate in daily store cleanliness activities
