The Event Coordinator role at Michaels, specifically at the Denton, TX store, is a dynamic and multifaceted position focused on creating memorable and engaging crafting experiences for guests of all ages. As an Event Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of store events, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes, designed to provide a stress-free, fun, and interactive environment. This role requires you to engage with clients across a broad age range, from young children to seniors, promoting creativity and enjoyment through hands-on activities such as crafting and face painting. In addition to event planning, the position involves delivering excellent customer service by assisting customers in finding products, facilitating checkout processes, and promoting Michaels' rewards programs and credit offers.

Operational duties are also a key part of this role, including merchandise stocking, truck unloading, and maintaining store cleanliness and safety standards. The Event Coordinator must excel in multitasking, managing multiple events simultaneously, and adapting plans based on client feedback to ensure satisfaction. Administrative responsibilities include handling communications via email and phone, completing necessary paperwork, and coordinating with store team members. This position demands creativity, excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work standing for long periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and reaching. Job Duties

  • plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events
  • engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity
  • demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects and activities such as face painting
  • facilitate and implement party add-ons like goody bags and balloons
  • communicate effectively with clients and store team members
  • complete administrative tasks including answering emails and making phone calls
  • adjust event plans based on client feedback
  • create backup or emergency plans as needed
  • ensure client satisfaction and uphold cleanliness and safety standards
  • set up, break down, and clean before and after each event
  • help customers shop and locate products
  • provide fast and friendly checkout experience
  • promote rewards program and private label credit cards
  • educate customers on customer satisfaction surveys
  • assist with online order processes like BOPIS and SFS
  • participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes
  • perform merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • support shrink and safety programs
  • adhere to standard operating procedures and company policies
  • maintain a positive and respectful work environment
  • participate in daily store cleanliness activities
  • cross-trained in custom framing selling and production
  • perform other duties as assigned
