Job Description
The Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma is a respected tribal government entity committed to promoting the welfare and development of the community it serves. The position of Event Coordinator falls under the Marketing Department and reports directly to the Marketing Director. This is a key non-exempt role integral to the success of marketing efforts involving the Norman and Shawnee Casinos. The Event Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the comprehensive planning and seamless execution of various high-profile events such as VIP experiences, anniversary celebrations, casino promotions, and player appreciation nights. With a strong focus on maintaining the Thunderbird Casino brand identity, the coordinator will work collaboratively with internal teams, vendors, and external partners, ensuring every event aligns with the broader business objectives and enhances guest engagement.
In addition to coordinating physical elements like vendor management, venue setup, and entertainment bookings, the role extends into developing engaging promotional material for both traditional and digital marketing channels. This includes crafting social media content, email campaigns, digital signage, and flyers to maximize event visibility and public interest. The candidate will also play a vital part in monitoring and adjusting promotional strategies based on performance metrics, helping to strengthen the casino's market presence and attract a diverse customer base.
The work schedule requires flexibility since events may take place during nights, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the business fully. The role embodies a dynamic and fast-paced environment where multitasking, prioritization, and impeccable time management are essential. Candidates must be equipped with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a vibrant, guest-focused approach to communication and public relations.
This position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities but contributes significantly to the overall marketing initiatives by supporting promotional efforts and collaborating on strategic marketing campaigns. The physical demands include the ability to walk, sit, stand for extended periods, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. The work environment combines indoor office duties with exposure to casino settings that may feature noise and secondhand smoke.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two years of casino experience preferred
- One year of prior Event Coordinator experience preferred
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Must be able to pass a background check and obtain a key gaming license

Job Duties
- Assist in planning and executing high-profile casino events including VIP experiences anniversary celebrations promotions and player appreciation nights
- Manage event logistics such as vendor coordination entertainment bookings venue setup and décor
- Ensure seamless event execution by coordinating with internal teams staffing as needed and delivering outstanding guest experience
- Maintain and promote Thunderbird Casino’s brand identity through all events and marketing efforts
- Work closely with the marketing team to develop engaging content for event promotion across digital and traditional marketing channels
- Assist in creating event-related marketing materials including flyers email campaigns digital signage and social media graphics
- Work with the marketing team to strategize event promotion track performance and adjust campaigns as needed
