Job Description
Michaels is a leading creative destination in North America, operating over 1,290 stores across 49 states and Canada, alongside an online presence at Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. The Michaels Companies, Inc. also owns Artistree, a manufacturer of custom and specialty framing merchandise, and MakerPlace by Michaels, a marketplace dedicated to handmade goods. For over 50 years, Michaels has been the best place for all things creative, inspiring customers while cultivating confident leaders and fostering an inclusive environment. Every team member is encouraged to develop their personal and professional skills, contributing to the company’s mission to fuel the joy of creativity.
This role at Michaels is based in the Mesquite, TX location and is centered around planning, coordinating, and facilitating engaging events within the store, including children’s birthday parties and various craft classes. As an Event Coordinator, you will play a critical role in creating stress-free, fun, and memorable experiences for guests of all ages, from young children to seniors. Your responsibilities will include organizing multiple events simultaneously, demonstrating and instructing craft projects, performing face painting and other creative activities, and managing party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons in alignment with company standards.
In addition to event management, the role requires hands-on customer service excellence, ensuring customers receive assistance in shopping and locating products, while providing fast, friendly checkout experiences. You will also be involved in operational duties such as unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, maintaining store recovery standards, and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the store environment. Communication is essential, both with clients to adapt and tailor events to their needs and with store team members to facilitate smooth event execution and coordination.
This position demands strong organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills alongside good written and verbal communication abilities. Prior experience with children’s events and retail or customer service is highly preferred. The physical demands include standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, and working in both climate-controlled and stockroom areas. Michaels is committed to equal opportunity employment and provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities. As part of the Michaels team, you will join a passionate workforce dedicated to creativity, innovation, and community engagement, all within a supportive and welcoming workplace environment.
