The Event Coordinator role at Michaels, specifically at the DEN-Lakewood, CO store, is a dynamic position focused on planning, coordinating, and facilitating various in-store events, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other creative activities. This role is pivotal in delivering a fun, engaging, and stress-free experience for guests of all ages, ensuring that every event runs smoothly and meets the high standards expected by both the company and its customers. The position involves interaction with a broad range of attendees, from young children to seniors, making excellent interpersonal skills and a lively, energetic personality essential.

In this role, the Event Coordinator acts as both a host and an educator, leading craft demonstrations, handling party add-ons like goody bags and balloons, and maintaining an inviting and safe environment. Beyond event management, the coordinator supports daily store operations such as merchandise stocking, truck unloading, and maintaining store cleanliness and safety standards. The role also includes customer service responsibilities, helping customers shop, providing checkout assistance, promoting loyalty programs, and handling omni-channel processes.

Candidates for this position should be prepared to handle physical demands including standing for long periods, bending, lifting, and moving throughout the store. The job requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and early mornings as needed. Job Duties

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests
  • Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop at our store and find what they’re looking for
  • Ensure all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience
  • Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards as needed to deliver our Brand Promises
  • Event Coordination
  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events
  • Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc
  • to company standards
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed
  • Adjust plans and events based on client’s feedback and needs
  • Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
  • Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards
  • Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event
  • Help customers shop, locate products, and provide them with solutions
  • Provide fast and friendly check out experience
  • Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments
  • Educate customer on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey
  • Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS)
  • Participate in the truck un-load, stocking and planogram (POGs) processes
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements

  • Cross trained in Custom Framing selling and production
