Job Description

Michaels is a leading creative destination offering a wide array of arts and crafts supplies and custom framing services across North America. Founded over 50 years ago, Michaels has grown to operate more than 1,290 stores across 49 states in the U.S. and Canada, alongside a strong online presence through its websites. The company is dedicated to inspiring creativity in customers of all ages and backgrounds, supporting their artistic endeavors with high-quality products, innovative event programming, and expert guidance. Known widely as a trusted name in the arts and crafts retail space, Michaels fosters an inclusive environment where customers and team members alike can flourish and express their creativity freely.

The Event Coordinator role at Michaels is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic retail environment, planning and facilitating engaging events such as children's birthday parties and craft classes that enhance the store experience. This position goes beyond traditional retail duties, involving direct interaction with customers of all ages to create fun and memorable experiences that resonate with families and communities. An Event Coordinator at Michaels ensures that every event runs smoothly from start to finish by managing logistics, activities, and client communication. The role also includes hands-on responsibilities like demonstrating crafts, face painting, setting up party add-ons, and administrative tasks like answering emails and phone calls related to event planning.

In addition to event responsibilities, the Event Coordinator contributes to store operations by providing excellent customer service, helping shoppers find products, and completing fast, friendly checkouts. They assist with merchandising duties including unloading trucks, stocking shelves according to planograms, maintaining recovery standards, and participating in store cleanliness and safety initiatives. The position requires the ability to juggle multiple tasks, maintain organizational standards, and foster a positive atmosphere for guests and team members.

Michaels values employees who are enthusiastic, personable, and organized, with a passion for crafts and an ability to engage effectively with customers ranging from young children to seniors. Experience working with children and facilitating children’s events is highly preferred since the role involves direct participation and performance of craft activities. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are critical for coordinating with clients and team members. The role demands physical stamina as it involves standing for long periods, moving throughout the store, lifting and carrying merchandise, and performing setup and cleanup duties before and after events.

This position offers a unique blend of customer service, event planning, and retail duties in a creative and inspiring setting. Michaels supports its team members with opportunities for personal and professional growth and fosters an inclusive work culture where everyone has a seat at the craft table. Employment type and salary may vary based on location and company policies. The company also ensures compliance with all applicable legal requirements and provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals. Joining Michaels as an Event Coordinator means becoming part of a team dedicated to fueling the joy of creativity and delivering exceptional experiences that keep customers coming back for more.
