Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six years experience in event supervision hotel event coordination meeting planning business or public administration public relations hotel/restaurant management or supervision in a public assembly facility
  • Must have or obtain a valid Virginia or North Carolina drivers license
  • Must be available to work evenings weekends holidays and overtime
  • Ability to work independently with good judgment and initiative
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Good communication and organizational skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six years experience in fields such as event supervisor hotel event coordinator association meeting planner business or public administration public relations hotel/restaurant management or supervision in a public assembly facility
  • Ability to plan direct and supervise large scale events
  • Proficiency with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software
  • Knowledge of City codes
  • Experience with event types such as festivals concerts sporting events parades conventions charitable events or expressive activity
  • Experience collaborating with public safety departments on event logistics
  • Experience managing events on public property

Job Duties

  • Plan direct and supervise large events (5000+) ensuring compliance with occupancy agreements conformance with safety and welfare regulations contractual requirements and delivery of exceptional quality customer service
  • Coordinate the permitting process and coordination of City services/logistics for special events beach weddings commercial and private property and film productions
  • Create detailed City Service Request in a timely manner through computerized event management system to distribute to other City Departments
  • Act as liaison between event organizers and state/city agencies
  • Monitor and critique special events and filming activities to ensure compliance with City policies/codes and regulations
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines with special attention to detail and be able to work independently exercising judgment and initiative
  • Proficiency with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Monitor City contracts for special events entertainment and franchises and report to management on compliance with terms and conditions
  • Compile data prepare reports regarding special events and filming activities
  • Perform other job duties requiring skills knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less
  • Must be available to work evenings weekends holidays and overtime when required to meet operational needs
