The company has built a strong reputation for being the go-to destination for creative enthusiasts, hobbyists, and families who enjoy crafting, celebrating, and expressing themselves through various artistic projects. Michaels is committed to fueling the joy of creativity and celebration by providing quality products, expert advice, and engaging community experiences. Beyond retail, the company also owns Artistree, a manufacturer of custom and specialty framing merchandise, further enhancing its portfolio and commitment to creative expression.
Michaels not only offers a wide variety of products but also prioritizes customer engagement through events and services that promote creative exploration. As part of its dedication to community and customers, Michaels hosts numerous events and workshops to inspire creativity among all age groups. The store environment is designed to be welcoming and supportive, encouraging creativity, learning, and fun. Michaels invests in its teams by offering comprehensive benefits, fostering a diverse and inclusive culture, and supporting work-life balance for its employees. This particular opportunity is for a part-time position located in Knoxville, Tennessee, within one of the company’s retail stores. The position focuses on delivering exceptional customer service while managing and facilitating events to enrich the Michaels customer experience.
The role of Event Coordinator at Michaels Knoxville is dynamic and centered around both event planning and in-store customer service engagement. The core responsibility is to plan, coordinate, and facilitate multiple events, such as children's birthday parties and various craft classes, ensuring these occasions are stress-free, enjoyable, and memorable for guests of all ages. This requires creative energy, organizational skills, and a passion for providing high-quality experiences. The Event Coordinator will engage with customers ranging from young children to seniors, demonstrating craft project completion, face painting, and managing event add-ons like goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
In addition to event duties, the role involves delivering outstanding customer service by assisting shoppers in locating products, educating them about Michaels’ rewards program and credit card benefits, and providing efficient checkout experiences. Team members are also responsible for operational tasks including truck unloading, merchandise stocking, maintaining store recovery standards, and contributing to the overall cleanliness and safety of the store environment.
This part-time role demands enthusiasm, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to manage stress and interact positively with guests and coworkers. Candidates should have experience working with children’s events as well as retail or customer service environments to thrive in this role. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for long periods, move throughout the store, lift heavy boxes, and perform routine store maintenance tasks.
Working at Michaels Knoxville offers the chance to be part of a vibrant team that values creativity, customer satisfaction, and community involvement. The company places a strong emphasis on inclusion and accessibility, providing reasonable accommodations when necessary. Employees have access to robust benefits such as health insurance and paid time off, reflecting the company's commitment to supporting its workforce. By joining Michaels, team members become part of a company dedicated to encouraging creativity, innovation, and celebration in everyday life, making it an ideal workplace for those who are energetic, organized, and passionate about crafting and customer service.
