The Event Bartender at Texas Tech is responsible for serving a variety of beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, during university events. The ideal candidate should have at least six months of bartending experience and demonstrate skill in cash handling and task prioritization within fast-paced settings. Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities are essential, as is the ability to remain self-directed while contributing positively to team efforts. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours is necessary given the nature of the event scheduling. Although not required, completion of bartending school is preferred, enhancing a bartender’s professional knowledge and confidence in this role.

Job Duties
- Demonstrate ability to meet the company standard for excellent guest service, interaction with co-workers and uniform standards
- Follow the bar pre-shift notes and bar menus and provide service as described
- Serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures for serving alcoholic drinks including state/federal regulations
- Learn or have knowledge of various beer, wine varieties and spirits available, and be able to suggestively upsell products to guests
- Pour drinks responsibly in accordance with company standards for serving size
- Check guest's ID in accordance with state/federal regulations to verify minimum age requirement for the purchase of alcoholic beverages
- Communicate a cut-off to a guest as required
- Listen and respond to any customer requests or concerns
- De-escalate intoxicated guest situations and contact management or security as required
- Contact management if unable to resolve or make a decision beyond the scope of standard decision-making
- Request additional product or restock product as required
- Handle cash accurately and be responsible for issued bank at his/her bar
- Maintain clean and sanitary work station at all times
- Ensure bar equipment is clean and well maintained
- Perform other duties such as set-up and breakdown of bar equipment and assist with cooler organization
