From beautiful parks and event spaces to a wide variety of community classes and recreational activities, the City fosters an environment where citizens can enjoy a high quality of life in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
As an employer, the City of Leawood offers dynamic opportunities for individuals looking to contribute meaningfully to their community while gaining valuable experience in public service, event management, and customer relations. Currently, the City is seeking a part-time Event Attendant to join its Recreation division, a role designed to facilitate the smooth operation of community events and programs across various City-owned facilities. This part-time position not only supports the City's mission to provide exceptional recreational experiences but also offers employees a chance to work in diverse settings such as the Leawood Community Center, the Lodge at Ironwoods, local fire station meeting rooms, and the Wave at 106 aquatic facility.
The Event Attendant acts as an essential liaison between the City and event patrons, ensuring that all events, meetings, and classes are executed seamlessly and meet expectations. Key responsibilities include greeting and assisting patrons, managing facility setups, overseeing opening and closing procedures, and ensuring compliance with event rules and policies. This role demands a proactive, self-starting approach where problem-solving, multitasking, and clear communication are vital for success. Ideal candidates should possess excellent customer service skills and a strong team player attitude, striving for excellence in every interaction.
Working hours for this part-time position typically range between 10 and 20 hours per week, aligning with the scheduling of community events. The work schedule mainly covers evenings and weekends, with occasional daytime hours, allowing flexibility for individuals pursuing other commitments. The seasonal nature of the position includes a peak period from May through October, when event activity is highest, and an off-season from November to April, when fewer events take place.
This role provides an excellent opportunity for someone eager to engage with the community in a public service capacity, develop practical skills in event coordination, and be part of a well-respected local government team. Starting at an hourly rate of $16.00, this position promises a rewarding experience both professionally and personally, offering a chance to contribute to events that enhance community life and bring people together.
If you are enthusiastic about working in a dynamic and supportive environment where your efforts directly impact the community, the Event Attendant position with the City of Leawood represents an ideal opportunity. The City seeks motivated individuals who are attentive to details, adaptable to shifting priorities, and skilled at managing the logistical aspects of community events.
