Job Requirements

  • Must be able to respond within 1 hour when on call
  • local travel required
  • possible housing available
  • ability to lift and carry 30-50 lbs
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • valid driver’s license

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • experience coordinating events, programs, conferences, and volunteers or staff
  • ability to organize work, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities
  • supervisory experience with staff (full-time, part-time, or seasonal) and/or volunteers
  • ability to drive locally
  • bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
  • at least 1 year of experience in event, program, or conference coordination preferred
  • at least 1 year of experience supervising staff and volunteers preferred
  • volunteer program development and management
  • building and maintaining community partnerships
  • project management, budgeting, and basic accounting
  • negotiating and administering contracts
  • using social media, websites, and promotional tools for event marketing
  • public speaking and making presentations to large groups
  • marketing, public relations, and promotion techniques
  • resolving conflicts and handling emergencies professionally
  • strong written and verbal communication skills
  • ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds

Job Duties

  • Develop marketing and public relations strategies and materials
  • establish fee schedules, contractual agreements, rules, and regulations for building use
  • create and maintain the center evacuation plan
  • network with public and private agencies to promote partnerships and plan future events
  • manage the events calendar, billing, accounting, and budgeting for programmed events
  • oversee contracts and relationships with caterers, vendors, and service providers
  • procure equipment and supplies as needed
  • manage assigned budget and maintain accounting of fixed and controlled assets
  • recruit, train, supervise, and organize volunteers, seasonal staff, and interns
  • develop incentives and recognition programs for volunteers
  • resolve volunteer security or liability issues
  • coordinate program activities and services with other agencies and stakeholders
  • oversee daily theater operations and documentary showings
  • conduct tours for prospective event clients
