Job Description

The Department of Veterans Services (DVS) in Virginia is dedicated to serving the needs of veterans and their families through a variety of support programs and services. This position is integral to the proper functioning of the laundry services at the J&C VCC, which is a long-term care setting for veterans and other residents. The role is classified as Hsekeep and/or Apparel Worker I, with a pay band of 1, highlighting its importance and the expectations for responsible, consistent performance in a healthcare-oriented environment. The scheduled hours are Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, including every other weekend, catering to the needs of a 24-hour care facility.The Evening Laundry Attendant is responsible for managing various aspects of the laundry operation, including the collection, cleaning, processing, and distribution of linens, garments, and personal clothing of residents. The position ensures that all laundry processes comply with stringent infection control standards, safety guidelines, and care center policies to maintain a sanitary and safe environment. This role demands a high level of dedication, physical stamina, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting. The attendant's duties are essential in supporting the comfort and dignity of residents by ensuring that clean and hygienic linen and apparel are available consistently.In addition to operating commercial laundry equipment such as washers and dryers, the attendant is tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the laundry work area, following proper handling procedures for contaminated materials, and assisting with the inventory of linens and supplies. Job Duties

  • Collect, sort, and weigh soiled laundry from designated resident's areas
  • operate commercial washers, dryers, and related laundry equipment according to established procedures
  • fold, stack, label, and distribute clean linens and personal clothing to appropriate units or storage areas
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry work area
  • follow infection control practices, including proper handling of contaminated materials
  • assist with inventory of linens and supplies
  • perform other duties as assigned to support facility operations
