The role of a Cook at Aramark offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts to bring recipes to life while expressing their creativity. This full-time position operates on a schedule from 5:30 PM to 1:30 AM, including shift differential pay, highlighting the value the company places on employees working non-traditional hours. As a Cook, you will be immersed in a vibrant food preparation environment, equipped with fresh ingredients and state-of-the-art kitchen equipment. The role goes beyond simple food preparation – it involves experimenting with various cuisines, flavors, and cooking techniques to create delicious meals that satisfy diverse tastes. Aramark prioritizes health and safety in its kitchens, implementing stringent production guidelines and safety procedures to ensure all cooking activities are conducted in a safe and hygienic manner.

In this position, you will be responsible for setting up your workstation, preparing ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling, and safely using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment like ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers. You will employ a range of cooking methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming to prepare meats, vegetables, and other foods. Presentation skills are also essential as you arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines. Food safety and sanitation are paramount, requiring you to properly store ingredients and maintain cleanliness of work areas and utensils. Additionally, maintaining a positive demeanor and excellent customer service towards guests, clients, and coworkers is crucial for contributing to a pleasant dining experience. This role may also involve physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking or standing, and may require the use of uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Job Requirements

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • Knowledge of basic principles of food preparation and safety regulations
  • Ability to acquire food safety certification
  • Basic math and counting skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to lift, bend, push, pull and stand for extended periods
  • Willingness to wear uniforms and use Personal Protective Equipment

Job Qualifications

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • Must be able to acquire food safety certification
  • Demonstrate basic math and counting skills
  • Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
