Kuppa Joy is expanding its bakery operations to ensure fresh pastries are delivered daily to every location. The Bakery Manager role is an essential leadership position within this expansion, playing a critical role in supporting the daily operations of the bakery, supervising the team, and maintaining the highest product quality standards. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the Bakery Manager collaborates closely with the Bakery and Kitchen Manager to ensure that production standards and food safety guidelines are rigorously followed. This position is perfect for an experienced baker who possesses strong supervisory skills and is ready to advance into higher leadership positions while continuing to be actively involved in the hands-on production process.

The Bakery Manager drives professionalism, teamwork, and excellence within the bakery department. They assist in managing daily baking and production schedules, ensuring product availability, freshness, and quality. The manager oversees hands-on baking, preparation, and finishing of bakery products according to precise recipes and operational standards. They also ensure safe operation and maintenance of bakery equipment and support inventory management tasks including ingredient ordering, receiving, rotation, and waste reduction strategies.

Additionally, the Bakery Manager is responsible for upholding all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards to ensure a safe working environment and a consistently high-quality product. They monitor product consistency, presentation, and taste, addressing any quality issues promptly while maintaining clear communication with the Bakery and Kitchen Manager. By modeling cleanliness, organization, and safety, the manager helps foster a culture of accountability across all bakery operations.

Leading a team of bakery staff during shifts, the Bakery Manager provides coaching on baking techniques, efficiency, and quality expectations to maintain excellence. They enforce attendance policies and professional behavior, play an active role in onboarding and training new team members, and manage weekly schedules, shift coverage, and production planning to optimize workflow. This position demands flexibility, as the schedule includes working weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts up to 2-4 am.

Kuppa Joy offers competitive compensation of $28 to $34 per hour depending on experience, with availability for 40 hours per week from Sunday through Friday evenings. Job Requirements

  • California Food Handler Certification (must obtain upon hire)
  • Completion of pre-employment assessments (sent via email)
  • Participation in a video interview as part of the hiring process
  • Minimum availability of 40 hours per week
  • Availability on Sundays and holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Lift, push, or pull up to 50lbs regularly
  • Ability to bend, reach, squat, kneel, and perform repetitive motions
  • Comfortable working weekends, holidays, and overnight up until 2-4am

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of baking or commercial kitchen experience
  • Previous management experience
  • Working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling practices
  • Ability to follow recipes, production schedules, and written procedures with consistency
  • Strong communication skills and ability to lead by example
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Assist in overseeing daily baking and production schedules to ensure product availability, freshness, and quality
  • Perform hands-on baking, preparation, and finishing of products according to established recipes and standards
  • Ensure all bakery equipment is operated safely and maintained according to preventative maintenance schedules
  • Support inventory management, including ingredient ordering, receiving, rotation (FIFO), and waste reduction
  • Uphold all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards at all times
  • Monitor product consistency, presentation, and taste to ensure bakery standards are met
  • Oversee bakery team members during shifts, providing direction and support
