Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- additional training beyond high school required
- at least 2 years of job related experience required
- basic life support for healthcare providers certification as per CP 1.20 life support course requirements
- Texas EMT-P license or Texas LP licensure required
- PALS certification within 180 days required
- ACLS certification within 180 days required
Job Qualifications

- training beyond high school
- at least 2 years job related experience
- at least 1 year experience in acute care or emergency setting preferred
- at least 1 year pediatric experience preferred
- basic life support for healthcare providers certification
- Texas EMT-P license or Texas LP licensure
- PALS (pediatric advanced life support) certification within 180 days
- ACLS (advanced cardiac life support) certification within 180 days
- certification in one of BTLS, ITLS, or PHTLS within 180 days preferred
Job Duties
- perform BLS and advanced skills during patient care including but not limited to initiation of PIV catheters
- priming IV fluids excluding blood products
- naso/oral/pharyngeal suctioning and insertion of NG/OG tubes
- assist in emergency situations by initiating BLS and ALS life saving skills and assisting with chest compressions
- perform documentation of patient care in the electronic medical record per department and hospital guidelines
- administer approved medications per physician order or protocol
- apply family and patient centered care to all job aspects and support family during all phases of care
- assist in the training and development of new staff to the department and provide objective feedback to team leader/manager related to progress of new hires
- participate in meetings, committees, and maintain all required training
- perform the transport of patients to procedures in adherence to hospital policy

- perform basic and advanced skills in accordance with the ED Paramedic protocols
- assist staff with the stabilization of critically ill and injured neonatal and pediatric patients
