This role focuses on leadership within Johnson Controls' HVAC Equipment business, particularly in managing independent sales agents in a designated area. The position involves planning, developing, and executing business development and sales strategies that align with company objectives. The successful candidate will lead a team of sales and operations professionals to achieve key business metrics, including secured volume, margin rates, revenue, EBIT, and market share. This leadership role is critical in ensuring that agent partners effectively promote the entire Johnson Controls Equipment portfolio, fostering strong relationships between area sales teams and independent agents.
As a leader in this role, you will be responsible for driving profitable growth through agent partnerships, implementing sales and operational processes, managing contracts and budgets, and representing Johnson Controls in industry associations. Your efforts will contribute directly to expanding market presence and achieving sales targets while maintaining compliance with standard operating procedures for forecasting, pipeline management, and project reviews.
The role also requires collaboration with various internal departments, including legal and compensation, to support contract administration and safeguard company interests. You will serve as an advocate for independent sales agents, ensuring their activities align with Johnson Controls' goals and strategies. Travel of up to 35% is expected to engage with partners and stakeholders effectively.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, marketing, or related field
- MBA preferred
- Minimum of eight to ten years experience in program management, marketing, direct sales, or sales management within a channel or industrial product distribution organization
- Ability to generate, communicate, and lead effective actions based on analysis of indicators
- Knowledge of construction business principles
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to represent Johnson Controls positively at various technical and managerial levels
- General operational knowledge of field sales procedures
- Knowledge of industry, company products, and services
- Ability to travel up to 35 percent

Job Duties
- Lead profitable growth of the HVAC Equipment business secured and executed through agent partnerships
- Ensure agent partners actively promote entire Johnson Controls Equipment portfolio
- Provide HVAC Equipment leadership to enhance relationships between Area and Local Market sales teams and independent equipment sales agents
- Lead the development and deployment of sales and operations processes required to execute business through independent Agent partners
- Ensure adherence to Johnson Controls standard operating procedures for pipeline management, forecasting, project reviews, and delegation of authority
- Lead identification and development of performance improvement activities related to independent equipment sales agents
- Manage operational management of independent sales Agent partners and contract administration
- Act as internal advocate for independent sales Agent business partners
- Develop and manage expense budgets to maximize productivity
