The role they are offering is focused on the HVAC Equipment business sector, specifically addressing the management and leadership of sales efforts through independent equipment sales agents. This position involves strategic oversight of business development, sales alignment, and operation activities that align with long-term business strategies. The successful candidate will lead a team that evaluates and advances business objectives to ensure targets such as secured volume, margin rates, revenue, EBIT, and market share growth are met or exceeded. This role demands a strong leader who can foster profitable growth through agent partnerships, guarantee promotion of the full Johnson Controls equipment portfolio, and enhance collaboration between local market sales teams and independent agents.

Additional responsibilities include the development and implementation of sales and operational processes necessary to support these independent agent partnerships. The leader must ensure adherence to standard operating procedures around pipeline management, forecasting, project reviews, and authority delegation. Moreover, they will be responsible for contract administration and enforcement for sales agents, working closely with internal legal and compensation teams to protect company interests and promote sales growth. Representing Johnson Controls in industry associations and acting as the internal advocate for agent business partners is key to the role. Budget management to maximize results and productivity is also part of the responsibilities.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, marketing, or related field
  • Eight to ten years of experience in program management, marketing, direct sales, or sales management
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to generate, communicate, and lead effective actions
  • Knowledge of construction business principles
  • General operational knowledge of field sales procedures
  • Willingness to travel 35 percent

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marketing, or related field
  • MBA preferred
  • Minimum eight to ten years experience in Program Management, Marketing, Direct Sales, or Sales Management within a channel or industrial product distribution organization
  • Strong analytical skills to generate and lead effective actions
  • Knowledge of construction business principles with leadership and influence capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to positively represent the company and communicate across technical and managerial levels
  • General operational knowledge of field sales procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry, company products, and services
  • Willingness to travel up to 35 percent

Job Duties

  • Lead profitable growth of the HVAC Equipment business secured and executed through Agent partnerships
  • Ensure Agent partners actively promote entire Johnson Controls Equipment portfolio
  • Provide HVAC Equipment leadership to enhance relationship and partnership between Area and Local Market sales teams and independent equipment sales agents
  • Lead development and deployment of sales and operations processes to support business through independent Agent partners
  • Ensure implementation and adherence to Johnson Controls standard operating procedures for pipeline management, forecasting, project reviews, and delegation of authority
  • Lead identification, development, and cadences around performance improvement activities relative to independent equipment sales agents
  • Manage sales agent contract administration including contract development, maintenance, and enforcement
  • Act as internal advocate for independent sales Agent business partners and represent Johnson Controls in relevant industry associations
  • Develop and manage expense budgets to maximize results and productivity
