The role of the Environmental Services Worker is integral in executing cleaning plans that align with hospital policies and healthcare regulations. This full-time position requires diligent attention to detail and adherence to department-specific schedules and procedures for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces and equipment. The worker will utilize various cleaning chemicals, solutions, and equipment to maintain a sanitary environment and reduce risks of healthcare-associated infections. Among key responsibilities are the cleaning and sanitizing of patient discharge rooms, maintenance of supply levels, management of waste and linen disposal in compliance with infection control standards, and the preparation of cleaning solutions based on established formulas. This position also demands proactive communication skills to maintain positive interactions with hospital personnel, patients, and their families in both routine and emergency settings.
This job is physically demanding and requires the ability to lift and move equipment safely, handle cleaning chemicals properly, and maintain constant vigilance regarding safety protocols. The worker must be capable of operating cleaning machines such as vacuum cleaners and carpet shampooers while ensuring all activities adhere to environmental and occupational health standards. Commitment to continuous professional development is expected, including participation in mandatory training sessions and adherence to hospital goals and objectives. Job Requirements

Job Duties
- Clean and disinfect assigned areas including patient rooms and common hospital spaces
- Operate cleaning equipment according to department procedures
- Use chemicals and solutions following department policies
- Maintain orderly, clean, and safe work areas
- Display positive and supportive attitude towards patients, families, and staff
- Follow patient discharge cleaning protocols including washing beds and sanitizing rooms
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue
- Collect and dispose of waste including hazardous and medical waste according to infection control guidelines
- Prepare cleaning and disinfecting solutions following established formulas
- Move and arrange furniture and equipment in accordance with floor plans
- Attend mandatory departmental and hospital meetings and training sessions
- Maintain proper attendance and punctuality
- Report safety hazards and equipment needing repair
