The campus offers a range of career opportunities across clinical and nonclinical fields and encourages a community-focused mindset with a dedication to healthcare innovation and patient-centered care.
The role of Environmental Services Technician is a vital part-time position within the Housekeeping Department at MU Health Care. This role requires individuals committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety in a healthcare setting, which directly impacts patient wellbeing and operational excellence. Working in an acute care environment, technicians are responsible for cleaning various areas including patient care zones, restrooms, specialized procedure rooms, public areas, offices, clinics, and ancillary spaces. Following strict infection control protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines is paramount to ensure safety for patients, staff, and the technician themselves. Daily interaction with patients, medical staff, and visitors calls for a high level of professionalism and customer service.
The Environmental Services Technician must exhibit strong attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality under HIPAA requirements while handling sensitive patient environments and information. Besides cleaning, the role involves managing linen supplies, medical and regular waste safely, and supporting floor care processes. Employees receive dedicated training tailored to the healthcare environment and must master various cleaning routines, chemical use, and equipment handling during their initial evaluation period. Working hours are varied, accommodating part-time schedules, and compensation is competitive at $16.64 per hour. MU Health Care also provides a comprehensive benefits package, including health, vision, and dental insurance starting from day one, paid leave, and retirement options with generous matching contributions.
This position suits individuals who value working in an active, dynamic healthcare environment, are comfortable with physical activity including lifting, standing, and working with cleaning equipment, and who can maintain composure and positivity in diverse situations.
