Job Description
Advocate Health is the third-largest nonprofit, integrated health system in the United States, formed from the combination of Advocate Aurora Health and Atrium Health. The system delivers care under the banners Advocate Health Care in Illinois; Atrium Health in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Alabama; and Aurora Health Care in Wisconsin. With its headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, Advocate Health serves nearly 6 million patients and is actively engaged in hundreds of clinical trials and research studies. The Wake Forest University School of Medicine acts as the academic core of the enterprise. Advocate Health is nationally recognized for its expertise in cardiology, neurosciences, oncology, pediatrics, rehabilitation, organ transplants, burn treatments, and specialized musculoskeletal programs. Employing approximately 155,000 teammates at 69 hospitals and over 1,000 care locations, Advocate Health also boasts one of the nation's largest graduate medical education programs with over 2,000 residents and fellows across more than 200 programs. A strong commitment to equitable care is evident in Advocate Health's provision of more than $6 billion annually in community benefits. Advocate Health champions innovative clinical care, exceptional health outcomes, outstanding consumer experiences, and value-based care models to improve the health of the communities it serves.
The Environmental Services Technician role within Atrium Health Cabarrus, part of the Advocate Health system, plays a crucial role in promoting environmental protection and maintaining a healthy, safe, and clean medical facility for employees, patients, and visitors alike. This is a full-time position offering a competitive hourly wage ranging from $18.85 to $28.30 and eligibility for benefits. The role has flexible shift scheduling options, including first shift (7am - 3:30pm), second shift (3:30pm - 11:30pm), and third shift (11pm onwards), requiring commitment to a 40-hour workweek.
As an Environmental Services Technician, an individual is responsible for comprehensive cleaning duties comprising dusting, sanitizing furniture and equipment, washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents, and light fixtures, sweeping, scrubbing, refinishing floors, vacuuming, carpet shampooing, and restocking restrooms. Additionally, the role involves replacing light bulbs, reporting facility repair needs, and helping maintain outdoor cleanliness such as parking lots, windows, and roofs. The job demands familiarity with various cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers, and finishes.
Waste removal is a significant aspect of this job, including collecting and transporting soiled linen, emptying trash receptacles, changing sharps containers, transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors, managing recycling materials, and emptying cigarette receptacles in designated smoking areas. The position also requires maintaining cleaning equipment, reporting any failures or mechanical problems, and contributing to a safe working environment by adhering strictly to cleaning protocols, infection control guidelines, departmental standards, and safety regulations.
Participation in ongoing safety training and education is essential for maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge. The Environmental Services Technician is expected to manage time effectively to meet schedules and deadlines consistently. The job environment can be fast-paced and stressful and may include work in contaminated, isolation, construction, and renovation areas, sometimes involving exposure to extreme temperatures and unpleasant conditions.
Advocate Health offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package designed to support its employees fully. Employees have access to paid time off programs, health benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, parental and adoption assistance, retirement plans with employer contributions, wellness incentives, and educational assistance programs. A $750 sign-on bonus is available payable after 90 days and one year of employment, along with eligibility for a prepaid college tuition assistance program that can offer up to $5,250 annually. Additional wellness incentives through the LiveWELL program can provide up to $1,350. Parental benefits include six weeks of paid maternity leave and four weeks of paid parental leave. These benefits emphasize not only the health and wellbeing of the employees but also their professional development and financial security.
