Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior experience in custodial or janitorial services
  • physical ability to perform continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
  • ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment
  • willingness to use personal protective equipment
  • ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions
  • ability to comply with safety protocols and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in janitorial or custodial work
  • ability to operate cleaning machinery and equipment
  • physical strength and stamina to perform demanding tasks
  • knowledge of safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to follow directions accurately
  • ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • experience in a healthcare or medical facility environment preferred

Job Duties

  • Perform janitorial and custodial services within the VA Medical Center
  • operate heavy powered cleaning equipment such as industrial buffers and wall washers
  • maintain cleanliness of floors, walls, windows, and other surfaces
  • properly dispose of waste materials in compliance with medical center regulations
  • use personal protective equipment to handle exposure to infectious materials
  • follow established safety protocols and instructions from supervisor
  • work with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of hygiene and sanitation
