Job Description

Legacy Silverton Medical Center is a pivotal healthcare institution serving the heart of the Willamette Valley. As a community hospital, it offers a comprehensive range of medical services that are not commonly available in similar-sized hospitals, including advanced diagnostic technologies such as computerized tomography (CT) scans, nuclear medicine, echocardiography, and a family birth center. Legacy Silverton Medical Center is dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare to patients, supporting the community’s health needs while fostering a compassionate environment for patients, visitors, and staff alike.

The medical center emphasizes an environment that is both safe and aesthetically pleasing, understanding the critical role a clean and orderly facility plays in patient recovery, staff efficiency, and visitor comfort. The organization is committed to upholding high standards of safety and cleanliness while promoting teamwork and respect among employees. The center also values inclusivity and equal employment opportunities, encouraging candidates to apply even if they don’t meet every qualification, reflecting its dedication to diversity and personal growth.

In this context, the role of the housekeeper at Legacy Silverton Medical Center is vital. This position is full-time and offers a competitive pay range from USD 18.00 to USD 25.73 per hour. The housekeeper’s primary responsibility is to maintain assigned areas within the hospital in an aseptically clean and visually appealing state. This includes patient rooms, care areas, offices, hallways, and any other designated spaces. Cleanliness and safety are paramount, as these efforts directly affect patient wellbeing and the overall perception of the healthcare environment.

This role demands a keen attention to detail and a conscientious approach to both safety and hygiene protocols. Duties cover a variety of cleaning tasks such as removing soiled linen and waste, maintaining hard floor surfaces through dust mopping, wet mopping, stripping, waxing, and polishing, as well as caring for carpeted floors using vacuuming, shampooing, and extraction. Additionally, the housekeeper is responsible for sanitizing furniture and fittings, cleaning walls, ceilings, vents, and inside glass surfaces. Adherence to strict security measures is required when handling medication rooms and refrigerators, ensuring medication inventory is secure and controls are respected.

The housekeeper will also use various tools, equipment, and cleaning chemicals safely and efficiently, demonstrating a clear understanding of proper usage and maintenance. They will report any faulty or hazardous equipment to their supervisor to maintain a safe working environment. Flexibility is also a part of this role, as assistance with conference room setups may be required.

Furthermore, the housekeeper must manage their time effectively to complete all scheduled assignments efficiently and safely. Communication skills are essential, as the role involves interacting respectfully and openly with co-workers, supervisors, patients, and visitors. Reporting unsafe conditions and participating in ongoing educational and in-service meetings to stay updated on best practices are important aspects of the job.

Legacy Health’s commitment to good health extends beyond patient care to include its employees’ wellbeing and professional development. By joining Legacy Silverton Medical Center as a housekeeper, you become part of a team dedicated not only to improving health outcomes but also to fostering a great workplace culture where respect, safety, and inclusivity are prioritized. This position offers a meaningful career opportunity for those who take pride in maintaining a clean and safe healthcare environment and seek to contribute positively to their community’s health and wellness.
