The role in focus is that of an Environmental Services Technician in the Environmental Services Department. This is a full time staff position responsible for performing cleaning functions critical to upholding the hospital's high standards of hygiene and safety. The Environmental Services Technician is tasked with using approved cleaning supplies and following established procedures to ensure all areas within the facility are properly maintained. Key duties include adhering to fire and safety codes, managing waste, and complying with dress codes and patient confidentiality guidelines. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying maintenance needs and reporting them to supervisors. Furthermore, the Environmental Services Technician supports equipment upkeep and supply organization to facilitate smooth department operations.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One-year experience as a housekeeper in hotel, motel, commercial, industrial sanitation, or health care related field
- Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment
- Ability to understand and follow instructions
- Commitment to the University’s core values
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form

Job Duties
- Follow established cleaning methods and procedures in performing cleaning duties
- Use only cleaning supplies and chemicals approved by management
- Adhere to guidelines for fire and general safety, waste disposal, dress code, and patient information confidentiality
- Report areas in need of special cleaning or repairs to appropriate supervisor
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment and organization of supplies
- Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets
