Environmental Services Technicians handle routine housekeeping duties including waste removal, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and floor maintenance such as waxing and polishing. The position requires physical stamina and the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, as well as the capability to be on feet for the majority of the shift.
Additionally, these technicians are responsible for proper use of protective equipment and adherence to safety protocols to limit exposure to hazards and ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred
- ability to use computer
- knowledge of cleaning materials equipment methods and chemicals
- strong customer service skills
- good communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- ability to perform physical activities such as climbing lifting balancing walking stooping twisting squatting and handling materials
- willingness to work evening shifts and occasional Saturdays
- ability to be on feet for most of the shift
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- minimum six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred
- ability to use computer and prior cleaning experience helpful
- knowledge of materials equipment cleaning methods and chemicals helpful
- strong customer service communication and interpersonal skills required
- previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment preferred
Job Duties
- demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes tools and techniques in a healthcare environment
- clean patient/resident rooms hallways lobbies lounges restrooms corridors elevators stairways locker rooms and other work areas to meet health standards
- wear proper protective equipment following guidelines
- keep storage equipment and carts well-stocked clean and tidy
- use pagers and other technology appropriately
- assist in laundry areas as needed
- perform physical activities such as climbing lifting balancing walking stooping twisting squatting and handling materials
