The role of Housekeeper (EVS Assistant) at Lutheran Life Villages involves more than routine cleaning; it is a vital position that directly contributes to the quality of life of every resident. As a Housekeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of common areas, resident halls, lounges, bathrooms, and offices to ensure a safe and pleasant living space. The role also involves the critical task of managing laundry services, ensuring that linens, clothing, and other fabric items are cleaned, organized, and available when needed. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience
  • Ability to operate laundry machines
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to engage with elderly residents respectfully
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning duties
  • Willingness to work scheduled shifts including weekends
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain cleanliness standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Maintains common areas, offices, employee/resident lounges, public bathrooms and hallways in a clean and orderly condition
  • Dust mops/spot mops all common areas and hallways as assigned
  • Cleans bathrooms by washing, sanitizing, and/or polishing fixtures and refilling supplies
  • Discards waste/trash into proper containers and relines trash receptacle with plastic liner
  • Cleans and polishes water fountains and stocks drinking cups
  • Vacuums lounge areas, organizes magazines/reading materials, and ensures order
  • Damp dusts/high dusts all furniture, sills, ledges and handrails
  • Monitors ceiling tiles, walls, handrails, floors, vents and baseboards and writes maintenance requisitions for repairs
  • Washes and replaces dining room table cloths
  • Ensures work areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies are properly stored at all times
  • Performs housekeeping/cleaning functions including making residents’ beds daily and replacing clean sheets weekly
  • Cleans shower curtains, windows, and mirrors in assigned areas
  • Vacuums carpets and spot cleans needed areas
  • Cleans floors by sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, disinfecting and sets up caution or safety signs when performing duties
  • Cleans walls by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting or deodorizing
  • Cleans and polishes furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units
  • Performs terminal/discharge cleaning and cleans vacant rooms as assigned
  • Transports soiled linen to laundry room
  • Sorts soiled linens
  • Operates washer and dryer
  • Folds clean laundry and transports clean laundry to hall storage areas
  • Delivers clean linen and clothing to specified areas ensuring adequate supply on halls
  • Organizes hall linen closets
  • Washes resident’s laundry as requested
  • Tumbles/fluffs draperies
  • Searches for missing clothing/items
  • Cleans surfaces of machines and dryer vents
  • Discards worn out or unusable items
  • Cleans walls in soiled linen room
