Job Description

Sanford Health is the largest rural health system in the United States, committed to revolutionizing healthcare delivery and providing world-class medical services to communities across America's heartland. With a strong presence in multiple states, Sanford Health combines top-tier medical expertise with compassionate care, ensuring that every patient receives the best possible treatment in a safe and supportive environment. The organization stands as a beacon of health excellence, featuring state-of-the-art facilities, cutting-edge technology, and a dedicated workforce passionate about improving lives through innovative health solutions and community engagement. As a leader in rural healthcare, Sanford Health prioritizes accessibility, quality, and patient-centered care while fostering a culture that values integrity, teamwork, and continuous growth. Their Central Patient Building located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, represents one of the crucial hubs in their expansive network, serving thousands of patients annually with comprehensive health services.

The role of Environmental Services Technician at Sanford Health's Central Patient Building in Sioux Falls is a full-time position working 40 hours per week during day shifts. This position plays a vital part in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of patient and staff environments. The Environmental Services Technician is tasked with ensuring that all patient rooms, hallways, lounges, and general work areas are sanitized and hygienic, which is paramount in a healthcare setting to prevent infection and promote wellness. This role involves a variety of cleaning activities including waste disposal, floor maintenance such as sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing using both manual and powered equipment. Knowledge of infection control protocols and safety procedures is critical to this position, as well as the ability to adhere to strict guidelines on protective equipment and chemical usage. Moreover, this technician supports the overall physical environment by keeping equipment and storage well-organized and clean.

Physical stamina is essential as the technician will engage in activities that require lifting, bending, walking, and using arms and legs extensively. The job demands the capability to lift or move up to 40-50 pounds and to manage equipment across flat surfaces and ramps. A willingness to work various hours including overtime, weekends, holidays, and different shift schedules to meet patient and facility needs reflects the flexibility required in this role. The position offers a salary within the range of $15.00 to $22.50 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. This opportunity provides a meaningful career for individuals who value contributing to a healthcare environment where cleanliness and safety directly impact patient health outcomes. Being part of Sanford Health also means access to an attractive benefits package that supports employees' health, financial security, and work-life balance, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, 401(k) plans, and generous paid time off.
