Job Description
Trinity Health is a prominent healthcare organization deeply rooted in its mission and core values, delivering compassionate and person-centered care across multiple sites. As an equal opportunity employer, Trinity Health honors the dignity of every individual and strives to build a diverse workforce by recognizing the unique perspectives, experiences, and talents each colleague brings. This commitment to diversity and inclusion helps foster a collaborative and supportive work environment where employees can thrive. Trinity Health operates in a dynamic hospital setting focused on providing high-quality healthcare services to patients and their families, ensuring safety and maintaining a sanitary environment critical to health outcomes.
This part-time position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the cleanliness and organization of both internal and external hospital premises. The role is essential in maintaining a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition in assigned areas, ensuring the hospital environment is safe and welcoming for patients, staff, and visitors. Working within a scheduled shift from Monday to Friday, 12 pm to 4 pm, the position requires an individual who is reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to upholding the standards of Trinity Health.
The custodian’s responsibilities are multifaceted, involving routine cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, dust mopping, high dusting, scouring, washing walls and ceilings, making beds, and the removal of trash and linen. Employees will use various equipment and cleaning agents, including detergents and germicides, following recommended procedures to ensure effective sanitation. Attention to detail is paramount to maintaining aseptic conditions in healthcare settings where cleanliness directly impacts patient safety and infection control.
The role demands physical endurance and the capability to perform varied tasks involving walking, standing, stooping, reaching, handling equipment, and occasionally lifting heavy items. The custodian must adapt to environmental conditions such as exposure to chemicals, slippery floors, and working at heights when using stepladders. Mental resilience is equally important due to the fast-paced healthcare environment, requiring adaptability, cooperation, and the ability to manage multiple duties simultaneously.
Additionally, this position requires a personal presence characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring. The custodian must inspire and motivate others while promoting the mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health. Reporting maintenance needs, logging activities, and collaborating effectively with supervisors and co-workers are integral aspects of the job. Compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as organizational policies and ethical standards, is mandatory to ensure a safe and professional workplace.
This position offers a meaningful way to make a difference in the healthcare environment by supporting the daily operations that enhance patient care and comfort. It provides a platform to work within a respected healthcare organization committed to making a positive impact on community health and well-being, supporting employees through an inclusive and values-driven culture.
