Job Description
Douglas County Health Center is a reputable long-term care facility dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to its residents. This establishment emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and comfort within its environment, recognizing the crucial role a well-maintained facility plays in the well-being of its patients and staff. The Health Center operates under the governance and policies set by Douglas County, ensuring compliance with all local regulations and standards. Committed to hiring skilled and dedicated employees, Douglas County embraces diversity and inclusivity, being an equal opportunity employer and providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. The county upholds a respectful and cooperative workplace culture by adhering to collective bargaining agreements and county policies, fostering a safe and productive work environment for all employees. The Housekeeping Aide role at Douglas County Health Center is vital in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitary conditions necessary for optimum healthcare delivery. Under the direction of the Housekeeping Manager or designated supervisor, the incumbent performs a variety of housekeeping and laundry duties essential to the daily operation of the facility. This position revolves around thorough and consistent cleaning practices such as sanitizing, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and waste management. Employees are trained to use designated cleaning products appropriately, following strict dilution protocols to ensure both efficacy and safety. Additionally, this role requires maintenance of biohazard safety standards and adherence to chemical spill procedures to protect both employees and residents. The Housekeeping Aide frequently handles the gathering and transport of soiled laundry as well as distribution of clean laundry to different units, ensuring the timely availability of linens and personal clothing. The role also involves assisting with moving and arranging furniture and equipment, supporting nursing and support staff in creating efficient workflows within the facility. Power equipment operation—including vacuums, scrubbers, and buffers—is part of the daily duties, necessitating familiarity and competence with such tools. Emergency responsiveness is another important aspect, with staff expected to act promptly during emergency codes such as red, green, silver, and black, contributing to swift resolution and resident safety. Participation in ongoing training and in-service programs is mandatory, ensuring that employees are up-to-date on safety protocols, new cleaning technologies, and quality assurance activities. This promotes continuous improvement and adherence to industry best practices. The job may include some physical demands such as lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds, performing various postures including bending, kneeling, and crouching, and working under diverse conditions both indoors and occasionally outdoors. Noise levels at the facility are typically moderate, and staff must be prepared for variable schedules that include shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency call-ins. Overall, this role is well-suited for individuals who are diligent, safety-conscious, and committed to supporting the health center’s mission by maintaining a clean and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors alike.
