Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to work in a healthcare environment maintaining safety and infection control standards
  • Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively by phone and verbally
  • Must be able to learn and follow food handling regulations if assigned to Crisis Response Center
  • Availability to work full-time shifts including days, nights, and evenings
  • Willingness to perform physical cleaning tasks and manage supplies and equipment
  • Must adhere to all hospital policies and procedures and applicable regulatory requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Previous related experience in environmental services preferred
  • Familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques preferred
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred
  • Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and cleaning chemical instructions
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
  • Empties hampers and transports of soiled linen
  • Empties trash containers and removes all trash
  • Empties all medical waste containers including sharps
  • Inventories, restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap in all assigned areas
  • Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel as repairs become necessary
  • May perform special projects such as window washing, wall washing, removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
  • Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors and meets or exceeds goals for customer service satisfaction
