Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Ability to work in a healthcare environment maintaining safety and infection control standards
Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively by phone and verbally
Must be able to learn and follow food handling regulations if assigned to Crisis Response Center
Availability to work full-time shifts including days, nights, and evenings
Willingness to perform physical cleaning tasks and manage supplies and equipment
Must adhere to all hospital policies and procedures and applicable regulatory requirements

Job Qualifications

Previous related experience in environmental services preferred
Familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques preferred
Additional related education and/or experience preferred
Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and cleaning chemical instructions
Effective communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Duties

Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
Empties hampers and transports of soiled linen
Empties trash containers and removes all trash
Empties all medical waste containers including sharps
Inventories, restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap in all assigned areas
Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel as repairs become necessary
May perform special projects such as window washing, wall washing, removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors and meets or exceeds goals for customer service satisfaction
