This role is offered on a PRN (as needed) basis, with work hours generally from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The position requires availability to work Monday through Friday, including rotating weekends and holidays, providing flexible scheduling opportunities. The Environmental Services Area Cleaner role is designed as a foundational position within the Environmental Services Department and offers excellent opportunities for career growth, not only within environmental services but also other departments of the Cleveland Clinic system. Employees in this role benefit from comprehensive on-the-job training that lasts one to three months, equipping them with the skills needed to perform their duties safely and effectively.

Successful caregivers in this position are responsible for a variety of essential cleaning tasks such as using appropriate cleaning products to wipe down surfaces, clean up spills, empty garbage, and maintain furniture and fixtures. They must also stock patient rooms, exam rooms, and restrooms with necessary supplies like paper products. Adherence to departmental policies, hospital-wide safety requirements, and the correct use and storage of cleaning agents and chemicals are fundamental parts of the role. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required, ensuring both caregiver and patient safety.

The hospital emphasizes physical endurance for this position, which requires full body motion including lifting, bending, stooping, crouching, squatting, and reaching.
