Job Description
Join Cleveland Clinic's Martin North Hospital, a renowned healthcare facility located in downtown Stuart, Florida, serving the communities of Martin County along the picturesque St. Lucie River. This hospital is part of the Cleveland Clinic health system, widely recognized for its dedication to advancing research and surgery with cutting-edge technology and providing world-class patient care. Known for its compassionate caregivers who treat patients like family, Martin North Hospital is regarded as an excellent medical facility and a home away from home for patients and their families. Its commitment to top-quality patient care and comfort underscores every aspect of the hospital's operations, making it a trusted healthcare provider in the region.
The Cleveland Clinic Environmental Services Department at Martin North Hospital is distinguished by consistently high performance and exceptional standards in cleanliness and safety. This department plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff. To continue this tradition of excellence, the hospital is seeking a motivated Environmental Services Area Cleaner to join its dynamic team. This position is a vital part of the hospital’s commitment to infection control and patient safety, involving cleaning and sanitizing various outpatient non-surgical areas including ancillary and emergency room areas, exam rooms, offices, waiting areas, and public restrooms.
This role is offered on a PRN (as needed) basis, with work hours generally from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The position requires availability to work Monday through Friday, including rotating weekends and holidays, providing flexible scheduling opportunities. The Environmental Services Area Cleaner role is designed as a foundational position within the Environmental Services Department and offers excellent opportunities for career growth, not only within environmental services but also other departments of the Cleveland Clinic system. Employees in this role benefit from comprehensive on-the-job training that lasts one to three months, equipping them with the skills needed to perform their duties safely and effectively.
Successful caregivers in this position are responsible for a variety of essential cleaning tasks such as using appropriate cleaning products to wipe down surfaces, clean up spills, empty garbage, and maintain furniture and fixtures. They must also stock patient rooms, exam rooms, and restrooms with necessary supplies like paper products. Adherence to departmental policies, hospital-wide safety requirements, and the correct use and storage of cleaning agents and chemicals are fundamental parts of the role. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required, ensuring both caregiver and patient safety.
The hospital emphasizes physical endurance for this position, which requires full body motion including lifting, bending, stooping, crouching, squatting, and reaching. Continuous walking and standing on hard surfaces are also necessary, and caregivers must be capable of light work involving exertion of 11 to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds continuously. All candidates are encouraged to discuss compensation specifics during the application process, as salary details vary according to market conditions and individual negotiations.
Overall, joining the Environmental Services team at Martin North Hospital means contributing to a clean, safe, and welcoming healthcare environment that directly impacts patient experiences and outcomes. It is an opportunity to be part of a respected institution committed to innovation, compassion, and excellence in healthcare.
