Job Description

Rochester Regional Health is a comprehensive healthcare system renowned for its dedication to patient-centered care, innovation, and community well-being. Located in Rochester, New York, this health system provides a wide array of medical services including hospital care, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient services, and specialty medical programs. Rochester Regional Health is committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and a supportive healing environment for its residents, patients, visitors, and staff. The organization values diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity employment, making it a progressive workplace fostering personal and professional growth for its employees.

The Environmental Services Aide I position at the Edna Tina Wilson Living Center, part of Rochester Regional Health, offers an essential role in upholding the cleanliness and sanitation of patient care areas. This is a part-time role involving 15 hours per week, working every Saturday and Sunday with shifts of either 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. or 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. The hourly pay ranges from $16.75 to $17.55, reflecting the organization's commitment to fair compensation based on experience and qualifications.

In this role, the Environmental Services Aide I provides a full range of cleaning services essential for maintaining a safe and comfortable environment in a skilled nursing facility. Responsibilities include routine cleaning, disinfecting surfaces, equipment cleaning, floor and wall upkeep, trash collection, and managing biohazardous waste. The aide ensures that all patient care environments meet strict infection prevention standards, which are critical in limiting disease transmission within healthcare settings.

The role requires collaboration with various departments, including Infection Prevention, ensuring that all cleaning procedures conform to hospital requirements and safety protocols. The Environmental Services Aide I plays a supportive role to the staff and demonstrates superior customer service by embodying the organization’s Brand Promise and Core Values. By maintaining a clean environment, the aide contributes directly to the health and comfort of residents and patients, which is foundational for quality care delivery.

This position calls for a candidate who ideally has experience operating floor cleaning equipment, enabling efficient and effective floor maintenance. While no formal education or certification is strictly required, previous experience in environmental services is preferred. The Environmental Services Aide I must be able to follow verbal and written instructions carefully and work with a customer service-oriented mindset.

Physically, the job requires medium work: periodically exerting up to 50 pounds of force and frequently engaging in activities such as walking, standing, and squatting. The role may involve exposure to medications, and aides must collaborate with nurse services when immediate attention is needed.

Overall, this position is critical in supporting a safe and hygienic healthcare environment, directly impacting resident and patient satisfaction and health outcomes. It offers the employee the chance to work within a respected healthcare institution with competitive compensation and a supportive work environment, emphasizing teamwork, responsibility, and community care.
