Job Description
MarinHealth is a comprehensive, integrated healthcare system that has established itself as a leading healthcare provider in the North Bay region of California. It operates MarinHealth Medical Center, a 327-bed state-of-the-art hospital located in Greenbrae, and oversees a network of 55 primary care and specialty clinics spread across Marin, Sonoma, and Napa Counties. With a strong affiliation with UCSF Health, MarinHealth blends the best practices of academic medical innovation with the personalized attention and care typical of an independent hospital. The organization values innovation and empowers its team members to bring new ideas into practice to improve patient outcomes and the overall healthcare experience. MarinHealth has demonstrated impressive growth and consistently earns high praise, including being named one of the Top 250 Hospitals Nationwide by Healthgrades and receiving a 5-star ranking for overall hospital quality from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. It also holds the title of the Best Hospital in San Francisco/Marin, awarded by Bay Area Parent, underscoring its excellence in providing top-tier medical services to the community.
The role being offered is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with a standard 8-hour day shift. The compensation range for this role is between $27.47 and $34.74 per hour. This position is particularly centered on maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the hospital and its associated clinical areas. The person in this role will execute daily cleaning duties in public areas, patient care zones, and ancillary support locations such as offices and exam rooms. These tasks include routine cleaning as well as scheduled cycle and non-scheduled project cleaning tasks essential for infection control and creating a safe environment. The cleaning responsibilities adhere to stringent policies set forth by Marin County, the California Department of Public Health, and The Joint Commission, ensuring the hospital meets and exceeds cleanliness and sanitation standards.
Responsibilities include dust mopping, wet mopping with disinfectants, vacuuming carpets, wiping surfaces, polishing metal fixtures, restocking supplies, and managing waste disposal among many other detailed tasks. The role also demands compliance with universal precautions, particularly when cleaning isolation areas. Beyond the essential cleaning functions, this position may involve secondary duties such as assisting with linen distribution, setting up or tearing down spaces for meetings, and mentoring new cleaning staff. An emphasis is placed on proper use of cleaning chemicals and safe practices considering biohazard waste. The hospital fosters a culture based on C.A.R.E.S standards—communication, accountability, respect, excellence, and safety—which this role supports through diligent and consistent service.
Applicants should have at least a high school education or equivalent, with preferred experience in healthcare or related cleaning roles. The position requires integrative agitation management certification within 30 days of hire, and candidates must be able to follow instructions, manage their work effectively, and collaborate respectfully with others. MarinHealth strongly advocates for vaccinations, including measles, mumps, varicella, and annual influenza immunizations, and recommends COVID-19 vaccinations. The workplace is inclusive and equal opportunity for all candidates, fostering diversity and fairness throughout its hiring processes. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking employment in a reputable healthcare system renowned for quality, growth, and community commitment, who want to contribute to patient and staff safety by ensuring a clean and sanitary environment.
