Job Description
The Christ Hospital is a leading healthcare institution dedicated to providing exceptional patient care in a clean, safe, and sanitary environment. Recognized for its commitment to excellence, The Christ Hospital emphasizes the importance of maintaining high standards in cleanliness and infection control to promote patient safety and comfort. As a reputable hospital, it offers a supportive work environment for staff members who are passionate about enhancing the patient experience through professional and attentive service.
The Environmental Services (EVS) Staff at The Christ Hospital play a crucial role in maintaining the hospital's cleanliness and sanitation standards. This position involves performing routine cleaning tasks in patient areas, non-patient zones, and other ancillary spaces within the hospital to ensure a hygienic and welcoming environment. EVS staff are responsible for safeguarding patient safety by adhering to strict infection control practices, using approved germicides and cleaning chemicals, and employing safety measures such as placing wet floor signs to prevent accidents.
In this role, EVS staff collaborate closely with healthcare providers and other hospital personnel to ensure that all cleaning procedures are carried out efficiently, maintaining the utmost hospital experience for patients and visitors alike. Responsibilities include daily cleaning of patient rooms, terminal cleaning after patient discharge, and sanitizing public and staff areas. The role also involves engaging with patients, visitors, and staff with a service-oriented attitude, leaving informative notes that identify the housekeeper and departmental contact information to enhance communication and satisfaction.
Confidentiality is a pivotal aspect of the EVS staff role, as individuals must strictly follow hospital policies and federal regulations to protect patient information, undergoing annual safety and confidentiality testing. Additionally, basic computer literacy is required, including the ability to use Microsoft Office Outlook for email communication and the NaviCare system for bed tracking. EVS staff must also be capable of passing required annual statistical tests to ensure ongoing compliance and proficiency.
The position is ideal for candidates with a high school diploma or GED, with preference given to those with at least one year of related work experience. While prior customer service skills are beneficial, they are not mandatory, offering opportunities for individuals seeking to develop professionally in a healthcare environment. Certification through CHEST within one year of employment is preferred but not a strict requirement.
Joining The Christ Hospital as an EVS staff member means becoming part of a team committed to patient safety and excellence in hospital environmental services. This role is fundamental to the hospital’s mission of providing high-quality healthcare in a safe and comforting setting. Candidates who possess basic reading, writing, and math skills, along with a dedication to maintaining cleanliness and supporting patient care, will find this a rewarding and impactful position within the healthcare sector.
