Job Description

Cook Children’s is a renowned healthcare provider dedicated to delivering exceptional pediatric care. Situated within the Medical Center-Prosper, Cook Children’s operates as a leading institution in environmental services, focusing on maintaining cleanliness and sanitation to ensure the health and safety of its patients, staff, and visitors. As an equal opportunity employer, Cook Children’s promotes diversity and inclusion, providing equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, physical or mental disability, pregnancy, veteran status, genetic information, or other protected classifications. This commitment extends across all facets of employment including hiring, job placement, training, compensation, discipline, advancement, and termination processes.

The Environmental Service Aide position at Cook Children’s is a critical frontline role responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the medical facility. Operating within the Environmental Services department, the aide works primarily on the first shift, dedicating 40 hours per week to performing repetitive cleaning tasks essential for infection control and patient comfort. The role includes cleaning patient rooms, dismissals, clinical areas such as X-Ray, Surgery, Recovery, and Emergency departments, along with office spaces and other designated areas.

This job requires proficiency in using standard cleaning supplies and disinfectants to thoroughly clean and sanitize various hospital environments. The Environmental Service Aide also handles emptying trash and linen receptacles, ensuring that waste is disposed of properly and promptly. The position demands attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to follow established protocols meticulously to contribute to a safe healthcare environment.

The role favors candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent and values previous experience, preferably one year, in hospital or motel housekeeping, highlighting the importance of familiarity with routine cleaning duties in a service setting. Fluency in English—both spoken and written—is essential to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members, ensuring compliance with cleaning schedules and safety guidelines.

Overall, the Environmental Service Aide plays a vital role in supporting the operational efficiency of Cook Children’s by contributing to an environment that is not only clean but also conducive to healing and recovery. This position offers an opportunity to be part of a respected organization that upholds strong values around equality, safety, and quality of care, making a tangible difference in the lives of patients and families served by the medical center.
