The Environmental Services Aide position at Schofield Care is a vital role responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and cleanliness standards throughout the facility. This full-time position, with shifts from 7 am to 3 pm including rotating weekends, plays a key part in ensuring that the environment remains clean, odor-free, and aesthetically pleasant for residents, staff, and visitors. The aide is responsible for performing a wide array of cleaning duties such as washing walls, floors, carpets, furniture, and equipment. Additionally, the role involves managing laundry operations, which includes processing soiled linens, distributing clean linens to residential rooms and departments, and maintaining the laundry equipment and work areas. Job Requirements

  • high school education or equivalent preferred
  • experience in commercial housekeeping or related cleaning role preferred
  • ability to learn cleaning procedures and laundry duties on the job
  • strong interpersonal skills to work well with residents and staff
  • physical ability to perform manual cleaning and laundry tasks
  • willingness to follow health and safety guidelines
  • reliable attendance and punctuality

Job Qualifications

  • high school graduate preferred but not necessary
  • experience in commercial housekeeping or healthcare center preferred but ability to learn on the job is adequate
  • good moral character, patience, and compassion for the elderly

Job Duties

  • clean all walls, floors, carpets, furniture and equipment throughout the facility
  • empty wastebaskets, ashtrays and trash containers
  • damp dust to disinfect furniture and fixtures
  • wet mop all vinyl floors, vacuum and shampoo carpeting
  • clean all glass, mirrors and stainless steel and keep them polished and free of fingerprints
  • replenish paper supplies, hand soap and other restroom or resident room supplies
  • report damaged areas and equipment to the maintenance department
  • ensure that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practicable
  • coordinate housekeeping services with other departments when performing services in those areas
  • follow proper techniques for mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions used for cleaning
  • clean, wash, sanitize and/or polish bathroom fixtures
  • high dust doors, door frames, light fixtures as needed
  • sort soiled linen and clothing
  • weigh soiled linen and establish proper weight for each load washed
  • dry linen and clothing so that they are properly dried and free from wrinkles
  • fold, sort, and count linens utilizing an automatic folder when possible
  • inspect linen and clothing for wear, tears, and stains
  • remove damaged articles from use and re-wash or soak stained articles
  • distribute clean linen and clean clothing to various departments and resident rooms
  • clean laundry equipment and work area daily
  • label all resident clothing through use of heat seal machine
  • identify and report equipment malfunctions to the maintenance department
  • ensure production schedules are followed as closely as practicable
  • count and take inventory of linen on a regular basis or as directed
  • monitor consumption of laundry chemicals and report to the maintenance department of needs
  • perform other related duties as required by their manager
