Additionally, the Environmental Services Technician is tasked with burnishing floors in patient and non-patient areas on a scheduled basis to maintain a polished and sanitary environment.
A significant part of the role includes the proper collection and transportation of trash and regulated medical waste. The technician must ensure that all waste is handled with the utmost care and deposited in designated storage areas for timely disposal. Job Requirements
- Must be willing to work holidays, weekends and provide additional coverage as needed
Job Qualifications
- None
- 1 year or more experience in hospital housekeeping
Job Duties
- Prepare equipment and chemicals for daily use and report to assigned work area
- Clean and disinfect corridor floors, lounges, nursing stations, and other assigned areas by dust mopping and wet mopping daily
- Burnish corridor, patient, and other areas as per schedule
- Remove trash from designated collection sites and transport to designated area
- Remove regulated medical waste from designated collection site and transport to assigned area for storage and pick-up
- Hang cubicle curtains, draperies, and shower curtains as needed
- Assist in moving of furniture as requested
- Maintain equipment daily and report any needed repairs to supervisor
- Inspection of assigned area- report safety and patient concerns to immediate supervisor
