Job Description
Bern's Steak House is a renowned and historic restaurant recognized for its exceptional dining experience and extensive wine collection. Located in Tampa, Florida, Bern's Steak House has been a landmark destination for those seeking premium steak and fine wines since its establishment. The company has built a strong reputation on its commitment to quality, customer service, and an unparalleled wine cellar that boasts one of the largest and most diverse collections in the country. The restaurant’s rich history, combined with a dedicated team of culinary and wine professionals, creates an environment where guests can enjoy top-tier cuisine and rare vintage wines in an elegant setting. This blend of tradition and excellence appeals not only to customers but also to employees looking for a meaningful and rewarding career in hospitality and wine service.
Bern's Steak House is currently seeking entry-level wine cellar associates to join their dynamic team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in one of the world's most notable wine cellars under the guidance of experienced sommeliers and alongside a dedicated group of wine cellar stewards. The primary responsibility of a wine cellar associate is maintaining the cleanliness, order, and organization of both the wine cellar and warehouse. In this busy and fast-paced environment, associates will also assist with restocking wines, polishing glasses, and providing tours of the wine cellar to guests, showcasing their knowledge and passion for wine. This position involves physical activity including ladder climbing and the ability to lift over 25 pounds, requiring associates to be agile and attentive to safety.
The role typically involves working the evening shift from 4 PM to midnight, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays. This schedule accommodates the high volume and special nature of the restaurant’s operations. Because of Bern's dedication to wine education, this job is particularly advantageous for individuals pursuing sommelier certification. With daily opportunities to learn directly from a team of four sommeliers, wine cellar associates gain valuable industry insight and tasting experiences that can accelerate their professional development in wine service and hospitality.
Employees at Bern's Steak House enjoy a supportive team environment in a celebrated restaurant known for its innovation and excellence. The company fosters an atmosphere of continuous learning, safety, and collaboration. The wine cellar associate role is well-suited for individuals with strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced restaurant setting, and an eagerness to build a career in the wine and hospitality industry. Though experience is not required, personal qualities such as teamwork, communication skills, speed, and safety consciousness are critical for success in this role. Bern's Steak House values these attributes and offers robust benefits and opportunities for career growth to its staff.
