The role of a Shift Leader at Culver's is pivotal in ensuring that every guest leaves the restaurant happy. This position involves providing leadership and direction to the team during shifts and overseeing restaurant operations in the absence of higher management. The Shift Leader is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment, adhering to food safety standards as well as ensuring compliance with employment laws. They manage labor and food costs effectively, making sure the daily deployment and workflow are optimized for peak performance.

As a Shift Leader, you will be expected to run shifts efficiently by following the daily deployment sheet, guaranteeing that quality products and services are consistently delivered. You will also play an essential role in coaching and mentoring team members, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to hold team members accountable, and prompt reporting of any disciplinary issues or safety concerns to the General Manager.

In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Shift Leader performs operational duties such as opening and closing the restaurant, handling cash management, inventory monitoring, and utilizing the Point of Sale (POS) system. Ensuring adherence to uniform, grooming, and jewelry guidelines is also part of maintaining professional standards within the team. Monitoring the physical condition and cleanliness of the restaurant, along with following up on field reports, helps maintain an inviting atmosphere for customers.

This position demands someone who is result-driven with prior leadership experience and the ability to foster a cooperative and communicative work environment. Physical stamina is also necessary as the role involves standing for long periods, moving quickly during shifts, and lifting various weights. Job Duties

  • Runs shifts effectively with daily deployment sheet to ensure quality products, excellent guest service and restaurant cleanliness while maintain labor and food costs
  • Follows and implements restaurant policies and procedures effectively holding team members accountable for their actions and/or behaviors
  • Ensures the accurate completion and follow through of all food safety practices and employment law compliance
  • Promptly communicates any questionable behaviors or infractions with General Manager
  • Demonstrates positive and effective role modeling for team members as a coach and mentor to promote team member growth and the development of a high performing team
  • Routinely monitors and coaches team on safety best practices related to Culver's hazard communication program and workplace safety
  • Performs restaurant opening and closing procedures effectively
  • Performs and understands managerial functions with the POS system
  • Responsible for restaurant cash management
  • Monitors inventory levels to ensure adequate supply for shift based on current restaurant sales
  • Holds team accountable for following proper uniform standards including grooming and jewelry guidelines
  • Ensures proper follow up of visitation and full field reports, including but not limited to cleanliness, hospitality, and ground appearance
  • Performs any other miscellaneous job duties as assigned
