Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified as EMT-Paramedic in state of assigned responsibilities
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years clinical or hospital experience
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned as EMT-Paramedic
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including managing informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
- Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility as outlined in standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
- Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, donor safety, and eligibility issues
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
- Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) and support investigations associated with pandemic threats as needed
