Job Requirements

  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking
  • Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Ability to perform physical examinations
  • Able to work standing and sitting for 2 to 4 hours
  • Capacity for bending and twisting the neck for 1 to 2 hours
  • Frequent hand and finger movements
  • Ability to make precise coordinated finger movements
  • Frequent foot movement
  • Ability to squat, crouch, or sit on heels occasionally
  • Occasionally walks, bends, and twists at waist
  • Ability to lift light weights up to 15 lbs with max lift of 50 lbs
  • Good hearing acuity
  • Color perception and near and far vision correctable to 20/30 or 20/100
  • Strong communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently with guidance
  • Able to perform a wide range of tasks
  • Comfortable working in a plasma center environment with biological fluid exposure
  • Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
  • Ability to work in extreme cold conditions with protective gear

Job Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking
  • Certified or licensed as EMT Basic, Advanced EMT, Paramedic, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Licensed Vocational Nurse
  • Current CPR certification
  • Experience with physical examinations and donor evaluation
  • Ability to educate and counsel donors
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Job Duties

  • Perform physical examination and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
  • Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
  • Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
  • Responsible for donor awareness to potential hazards
  • Provide donor education regarding general health and provide counseling regarding unacceptable test results
  • Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
  • Perform evaluations of any history of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
  • Assist in employee training
  • Administer employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
