Job Requirements

  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking
  • Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Ability to stand and sit for 2 to 4 hours per day
  • Ability to bend and twist neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
  • Frequent hand movement with ability to perform fast, simple finger and wrist movements
  • Ability to make precise coordinated finger movements
  • Frequent foot movement with occasional squatting, crouching, or sitting on heels
  • Occasional walking, bending, and twisting at waist
  • Ability to lift light weights up to 15 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs
  • Hearing acuity
  • Color perception and near and far vision correctable to 20/30 in one eye and 20/100 in the other
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions
  • Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
  • Willingness to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, electrical equipment, and extreme cold
  • Use of personal protective equipment required

Job Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking
  • Certified/licensed as EMT Basic, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic according to state requirements
  • Current CPR certification
  • Experience working in a medical or healthcare environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to perform precise coordinated movements
  • Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions

Job Duties

  • Perform physical examination and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
  • Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
  • Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
  • Responsible for donor awareness to potential hazards
  • Provide donor education regarding general health and counseling on unacceptable test results
  • Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
  • Perform evaluations of any history of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
  • Assist in employee training
  • Administer employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
