Job Requirements

  • High school degree
  • Associates degree or some college in progress preferred
  • Minimum of two years of customer service experience preferred in an educational setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to work well with internal and external constituents
  • Ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Use of Microsoft Office technology suite including Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages, and other items as needed

Job Duties

  • Answer incoming in-person inquiries and calls received through the call center within Centralized Services and assist parties with questions related to any of the departments within the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs
  • Respond to inquiries from in-person walk-up, phone, live chat, and emails
  • Maintain a log of received phone calls and inquiries
  • Assist students and other callers with information on navigating Coppin systems and accomplishing some basic administrative functions
  • Triage issues and direct inquiries to the most appropriate area for follow-up
  • Maintain a relationship with staff in the division to be aware of changes and upcoming items needing attention
  • Coordinate with departments across the division to best support student service
  • Conduct call campaigns as needed to assist with registration, admissions, and other divisional efforts
  • Navigate student systems to provide basic information to student callers on admission status, current student status, and basic financial aid information
  • Continuously review and update information on department offerings to provide up-to-date information
  • Troubleshoot issues and track resolutions for inquiries received
  • Perform other duties assigned
  • Report repeated issues and patterns for further investigation and process improvement
  • Keep abreast of the legal guidelines regarding confidentiality and privacy such as FERPA, HIPAA, etc.
  • Participate in Divisional sponsored programs and events
  • Other duties as assigned
