Job Description

TeamHealth is a prominent healthcare company specializing in providing comprehensive emergency medicine staffing solutions across the United States. With a focus on delivering high-quality patient care, TeamHealth partners with hospitals and healthcare facilities to support emergency departments through an extensive network of skilled physicians. Known for its commitment to excellence, innovation, and professional development, TeamHealth offers opportunities that combine clinical expertise with flexible work arrangements, making it an ideal employer for physicians seeking diverse and dynamic medical careers. The organization stands out by offering top-tier compensation packages, extensive support systems, and an engaging work environment that nurtures growth and collaboration among healthcare professionals.

The current opportunity is for family medicine (FM) and internal medicine (IM) physicians to join TeamHealth's highly selective emergency medicine (EM) ambassador team of elite travel physicians. This role is tailored for medical professionals with a passion for emergency medicine who are looking to expand their clinical experience while enjoying the flexibility of travel assignments. Physicians on this team provide essential coverage to emergency departments located throughout the Southeast, including Georgia, Florida, Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas. Each physician is assigned to one emergency department at a time, which allows for focused, quality care provision.

This position offers a rare blend of challenge and flexibility, enabling physicians to work in a variety of settings - from small rural hospitals to large regional care centers. This variety not only enhances clinical skills but allows physicians to tailor their work environment and geographic preferences. The position operates under an independent contractor status, giving physicians autonomy while still being part of a supportive network that provides mentorship, credentialing assistance, and leadership training. Travel arrangements and accommodations are paid with simple booking and expense reimbursement, further reducing barriers for those eager to join the team.

Candidates must be ABFM (American Board of Family Medicine) or ABIM (American Board of Internal Medicine) certified or prepared, with experience or fellowship training in emergency medicine. Adaptability, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative team-player attitude are essential for success in this role. Physicians benefit from competitive pay, generous sign-on and retention bonuses, and a workload designed for work-life balance, including blocked time off. This role not only supports professional growth through exposure to a wide range of clinical cases but also encourages physicians to enjoy their personal interests during their time off. TeamHealth ensures that when physicians are off-duty, they can fully disconnect and recharge, promoting overall well-being and long-term career satisfaction.
