This role is for a friendly and courteous cashier who will be responsible for taking guest orders and processing payments accurately. The position offers an hourly pay range of $20.00 to $30.00, with actual earnings varying based on factors such as experience, education, location, hours worked, and overtime eligibility. The cashier serves as a vital link between guests and the restaurant’s service team, ensuring orders are taken correctly and guests receive prompt, courteous assistance. Reporting to the Assistant and General Managers, this role plays an integral part in maintaining smooth and efficient service flow, particularly in fast-paced environments like the drive-thru.
Beyond order taking and payment processing, this role requires adherence to all food handling and safety procedures laid out by the company, as well as responsible cash management, including accurate cash counting before and after shifts. The cashier will employ suggestive and upselling techniques to maximize sales while enhancing guest satisfaction, utilizing the restaurant's Micro's order entry system to ensure accuracy and effective communication with management when issues arise. The position also involves maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the work area and may include assisting with training new cashiers, helping expediter or service assistants during busy periods, and performing additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Success in this role demands excellent communication skills to interact with guests positively, handling questions or complaints with professionalism and efficiency. Physical demands include the ability to bend, reach, lift, and remain mobile throughout shifts that require standing and walking continuously, often in conditions exposed to heat, steam, smoke, cold, and odors. The candidate must be capable of working under pressure during peak times without compromising service quality or safety standards. Job Duties
- Follows company food handling and safety procedures
- Counts cash before and after working register
- Recognizes, greets, takes guest order, and uses suggestive and/or upselling for every order taken
- Uses Micro's system to enter orders, corrects mistakes
- communicates to manager when void occurs or problem arises
- Collects payment, gives guest correct changes
- Gives guest receipt, points out beverage and salsa bar, thanks guest, and gives proper departing comment
- Utilizes total guest satisfaction and pleasantly/quickly corrects mistakes and answers guest's questions
- Maintains correct flow of orders at drive-thru window
- Uses wireless or intercom communication system to communicate with guest (drive-thru)
- Works at a pace that enables the drive-thru team to meet or exceed company service time standards (drive-thru)
- Responsible for proper cash handling and any cash shortages and/or overages
- Cleans and sanitizes entire work area
- Regularly assists expediter and/or service assistant
- Assists in training new cashiers
- Periodically performs additional duties as assigned by direct supervisor
