Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of direct EHS experience
- Extensive knowledge of relevant regulations
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to perform physical site inspections
- Capable of walking, climbing, crawling, and other physical activities
- Availability for occasional after-hours response
- Must qualify for DBIDS
- Valid US passport required
- Ability to travel up to 30%, including international
- Vision requirements including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception
- Must be able to sit, talk, hear, and handle objects regularly
Job Qualifications
- BA degree or higher preferred
- AA degree with extensive experience considered
- 5 years or more of EHS related experience
- Advanced degree or certificates in Environmental Engineering or related fields desirable
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT and DoD regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with ship repair or manufacturing operations preferred
- Trainer level qualifications in EHS preferred
- Proven ability to interface with regulatory bodies and corporate management
- Ability to lead and manage EHS teams and budgets
- Competent in ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards
- Skilled in data analysis and report preparation
Job Duties
- Plan, develop and implement programs, policies and procedures to minimize EHS impacts
- Develop and oversee ISO 14001 certified environmental management system
- Manage Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSAS 18001)
- Ensure development and coordination of EHS compliance programs
- Provide subject matter expertise for EHS training
- Manage annual EHS budget
- Oversee permit processes and maintain regulatory approvals
- Monitor and report EHS compliance data
- Advise senior management on EHS matters and regulations
- Represent company before regulatory agencies
- Conduct risk assessments and develop internal health and safety policies
- Lead preparation for external audits and ensure continual improvement
- Perform site inspections including yard locations and vessels
- Ensure availability of trained EHS personnel for inspections and meetings
- Maintain awareness of regulatory changes impacting the company
