Job Description

Austin Community College (ACC) is a public two-year institution located in Texas, serving a diverse and multicultural population of approximately 41,000 credit students each fall and spring semester. ACC is dedicated to promoting student success and fostering community development by providing affordable access to higher education and workforce training. The college offers education through various traditional and distance learning modes, including applied baccalaureate degrees tailored to meet the needs of its service area. ACC is excited to announce the opening of its new teaching restaurant, Eatery '73 and Grab & Go, and is currently seeking qualified Line Cook candidates to join its culinary team. This is a part-time position offering a pay rate of $23.00 per hour for up to 19 hours per week. The successful candidate will be an essential part of the restaurant operations, responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating dishes with a strong emphasis on quality, consistency, and cleanliness. The line cook role at ACC demands individuals who are kind, positive, team-oriented, and capable of maintaining a clean, organized, and inclusive kitchen environment where respect and dignity are prioritized. Candidates should possess previous experience in a professional kitchen and a sound understanding of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures. The role requires following written and verbal instructions carefully while paying meticulous attention to detail throughout the service period. Responsibilities include ensuring that station mise en place is prepped, seasoned, and stocked, as well as helping to keep the kitchen organized and clean during operations. This position requires active participation in professionally run service periods, focusing on excellence in cooking, timing, plate assembly, and communication with the team. The job may also involve additional duties to meet the evolving needs of the restaurant, emphasizing a flexible and cooperative work approach. Individuals must maintain domicile in Texas throughout their employment at ACC. Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Cook/prepare plated food in an efficient and timely manner while adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines required by the Executive Chef and ACC Culinary Department
  • follow recipe guidelines, procedures, and techniques required by the Executive Chef and ACC Culinary Department
  • adhere to forecasting/par levels and prep levels as set by the Executive Chef
  • communicate with the Executive Chef and coworkers in a professional and timely manner regarding the needs of the business, equipment, and product integrity
  • adhere to and maintain safety and sanitation standards at all times in accordance with ACC Culinary Department's policies and procedures
  • check-in and store incoming orders/products following FIFO and labeling procedures to ensure proper rotation and usage
