Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Six months to one year of related baking experience preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
  • Must be able to perform physical activities including stooping crouching reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting fingering grasping feeling talking hearing and repetitive motions
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment with exposure to temperature extremes flour noise and occasional cleaning chemicals
  • Availability to work scheduled shifts punctually
  • Adherence to company policies and personal hygiene standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Over six months up to one year of similar or related experience preferred
  • Knowledge of baking principles and techniques
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Basic arithmetic skills including fractions decimals and percentages
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety regulations
  • Ability to operate bakery equipment safely and effectively

Job Duties

  • Provide prompt efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
  • Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner whether the encounter takes place in the designated department or elsewhere in the store
  • Make an effort to learn customers' names and address them by name whenever possible
  • Assist customers by escorting them to the products they are looking for securing products that are out of reach loading or unloading heavy items making note of and passing along customer suggestions or requests and performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience
  • Answer telephone promptly and provide friendly helpful service to customers who call including taking product orders
  • Check orders for the day and set up a timeline and production schedule
  • Prepare make up bake and fry all department products as needed
  • Review the status and appearance of product for freshness and pull by stale date
  • Invoice and put away product as instructed by the department manager
  • Anticipate product needs for the current day and subsequent days
  • Inspect incoming products quality and quantity including mispicks
  • Understand the use and issues related to bakery equipment and follow up on potential maintenance issues
  • Check signage for correct labels on ad items
  • Review department for potential safety issues such as hot racks or knobs in hot water
  • Operate as a lead with bakery clerks
  • Prioritize orders as per customer and department manager request including special and future orders
  • Proof necessary items
  • Pull product from freezer or cooler
  • Understand and practice proper sanitation procedures ensuring the work area is clean and neat
  • Maintain strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress
  • Adhere to company policies and individual store guidelines
  • Report to work when scheduled and on time
