Ugly Dumpling welcomes both full-time and part-time team members, providing flexible working hours ranging from 20 to 40 hours per week. Reporting directly to the Culinary Manager, team members are an integral part of the production process, ensuring each dish meets the brand’s reputation for excellence. This nonexempt position offers individuals the opportunity to work in a dynamic kitchen environment while developing culinary skills related to dough preparation, filling, and precise hand-folding techniques.

The Production Team Member role at Ugly Dumpling is essential for crafting high-quality dumplings and bao from scratch. Individuals in this position are responsible for consistently producing products that align with the company's standards for quality, presentation, and taste. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong collaboration with fellow team members, and an unwavering commitment to food safety and cleanliness. Key responsibilities include preparing dough and fillings according to standardized recipes, hand-folding dumplings with precision, operating production equipment such as mixers and steamers, monitoring ingredient and product quality, and maintaining an organized workspace. Team members also take part in inventory management and participate in ongoing training to refine their craft and stay current with company protocols. With an emphasis on efficiency and minimizing waste, employees contribute to the seamless operation of the kitchen, especially during peak periods and special events. Job Requirements

  • Previous experience in food production or kitchen prep is preferred but not required
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail for hand-folding dumplings and bao
  • Ability to follow recipes and procedures consistently
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques or equipment
  • Team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs

Job Duties

  • Prepare dough, fillings, and other components following standardized recipes and procedures
  • Hand-fold dumplings and soup dumplings to meet Ugly Dumpling's quality and presentation standards
  • Operate production equipment, including mixers, steamers, and cutters, safely and efficiently
  • Monitor the quality and consistency of ingredients and finished products during production
  • Follow all food safety protocols, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of ingredients
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift
  • Sanitize equipment, tools, and production surfaces regularly to ensure a safe and hygienic environment
  • Work efficiently to meet daily production quotas while minimizing waste
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure seamless operations
  • Assist with inventory management, including monitoring ingredient levels and reporting shortages
  • Support other team members during peak production periods or special events
  • Participate in training sessions to refine skills and stay updated on company procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned
