Job Description
The Courtyard and TownePlace Suites in Hawthorne, California, are prominent hospitality properties operating under a globally recognized brand known for quality service and exceptional guest experiences in the hotel industry. These properties serve a diverse clientele ranging from business travelers to leisure guests, offering comfortable accommodations coupled with a suite of amenities designed to meet the needs of modern travelers. Both hotels operate within Marriott International's family of brands, which emphasizes customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and market adaptability, making them exceptional establishments within the local hospitality sector. Their commitment to maintaining high operational standards and fostering long-term customer relationships has positioned them as preferred destinations within the Hawthorne area, reflecting Marriott's brand values and dedication to service excellence.
The Dual Director of Sales at the Courtyard and TownePlace Suites - Hawthorne embodies a key leadership role responsible for spearheading the sales strategies and team leadership across these two dynamic properties. This role requires a strategic and experienced sales professional who will not only lead the on-property sales team members including Sales Managers and Sales Coordinators but also act as the pivotal sales liaison for multiple stakeholders such as the General Manager, Revenue Management, Sales Support teams, and external sales entities like Lodging Dynamics and Marriott National Group Sales. The Director's core objective is to execute brand sales strategies that drive revenue growth, optimize market share, and maintain a strong property presence within the competitive hotel market. This includes prioritizing customer relationships, harnessing market intelligence, and effectively utilizing resources like the Smith Travel Research STAR report to maintain awareness of the hotel’s standing against competitors.
Day to day responsibilities encompass providing leadership and coaching to the sales teams, ensuring they meet individual booking goals while fostering a culture of excellence and professionalism. The Director is also expected to actively engage in direct sales efforts, participate in business planning, and ensure that brand standards and operational procedures align with the company’s overarching commercial objectives. Additionally, the role demands a proactive approach to community relations and partnership development with local organizations to boost the properties’ market visibility and brand loyalty.
Supervisory responsibilities include creating policies, setting departmental goals, recruiting, training, and performance management, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards, and overseeing budgets and financial performance. The ideal candidate must be a skilled communicator with proven expertise in revenue optimization, strategic planning, team leadership, and customer service excellence. Core competencies also include strong analytical skills, business acumen including budgeting and cost control, and a visionary mindset capable of adapting to evolving market and customer demands without compromising brand values.
In addition to requiring a minimum of five years of experience in the hotel sales and marketing field and supervisory expertise, the position values proficiency in digital tools such as Google Docs and Microsoft Office applications and demands impeccable interpersonal and negotiation skills. The role does not require travel and is performed mainly in an office environment with typical physical demands such as standing, walking, and lifting light objects. Overall, the Dual Director of Sales role offers an opportunity to play a strategic leadership role within two reputable hotel properties, driving growth and excellence in the competitive hospitality industry.
