Job Description

The Commission is currently seeking a highly motivated and responsible individual to fill the role of Veteran Services Commission Driver / Secretary. This full-time position is essential for the efficient operation of the Commission's transportation and administrative services. The driver/secretary will be responsible not only for safely operating the Commission’s passenger and delivery vans but also for performing a wide range of clerical duties to support Veteran Service Officers and Investigators. This role is unique in its blend of responsibilities, combining the practical aspects of driving with the administrative skills required to manage communications, record-keeping, and the organization of veteran case files. The Veteran Services Commission Driver / Secretary will regularly interact with veterans, providing warm, respectful, and reliable service that enhances the overall experience of those seeking assistance. The position requires adherence to safety protocols, vehicle maintenance, and detailed attention to administrative accuracy. The candidate will conduct vehicle inspections at the start of each shift, manage the scheduling of transport to medical facilities, and coordinate the delivery of food boxes to veterans and their dependents. Furthermore, proficiency in computer operations, including Microsoft Office Suite and related state software systems, is necessary to fulfill data entry and correspondence duties effectively. This position also demands strong organizational and communication skills, as the driver/secretary will greet and assist clients, manage telephone communications, and maintain the confidentiality of client information. Compensation for this role starts at $18.21 per hour, with a scheduled workweek of 40 hours, typically during day shifts with 8-hour shifts.   • Valid driver’s license with minimum three-year driving history
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50-pound containers
